About Us

Supporting Our Environment And Sustainability Since 1982.

Our Company

Invisible Structures started in a garage in Aurora, Colorado in 1982 with a daring dream of replacing certain concrete and asphalt applications to grass paving. Since then, we have changed the world’s landscape with by far the most installations of grass and gravel pavers worldwide. We pioneered the initiative to use 100% recycled plastic in all of our products, back when we had to source our own plastic and grind it ourselves. Now, with the advancement and collective international interest in recycled plastics, we are able to source lab-tested materials, guaranteed in quality and durability. How long can an Invisible Structures product last? We’ll get back to you. All maintained installations are still standing!

You may have passed by several of our installations and not even known. That’s why we call ourselves “Invisible”.

 Our First Delivery Vehicle

Made in the USA

At Invisible Structures, we make a commitment to our customers to not only create products that help change the environment for the better, but to deliver the best, most reliable product that will always deliver for them. For us, that means creating those products and keeping those jobs right here in the United States of America where regulations and standards are high, and we can closely monitor all aspects of production.

Invisible Structures primary focus has been in the stormwater management business with our Permeable Paver systems Grasspave2 and Gravelpave2, and Rainstore3 for stormwater runoff capture and reuse. Large rolls sizes cover areas quickly while either protecting grass roots from compaction or containing small gravel to eliminate gravel migration. These products have extensive design brochures that cover all aspects from project photographs to latest technology and specifications.

History Of The Roll

The original version of our grass paving system was simply PVC rings glued to mats. It wasn’t until founder, William Bohnhoff, decided there was too much waste (and too much mess from PVC shavings) involved when he decided to switch from PVC to injection molded recycled plastic rings glued to mats in 1988, then a 100% recycled plastic ring on grid system in 1991.

At first, the injection-molded ring on grid part was shipped flat and snapped together onsite. This functioned well but was more labor intensive for our customers. So, we went back to the drawing board to create a more flexible version of Grasspave2 that wouldn’t lose any of its 15,940 PSI strength, but could be pre-assembled into rolls for ease during installation. Not only does this current version of Grasspave2 and Gravelpave2 now have the convenience and ease of roll installation, it’s flexible enough to undulate with the base course during extreme changes in temperature and can bend around slight curves.

Stormwater Management and Environmental Concerns

Invisible Structures now has a complete line of Stormwater Management Products to choose from. Our products were developed to help manage stormwater and protect and enhance the environment. We continue to aim to reduce the Urban Heat Island Effect, capture and reuse Storm Water run off, and change our landscapes for the better.
