Boston Road Improvements (New York City Housing Authority)

As part of the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) Boston Secor Community improvements in the Bronx, Rainstore3 was selected by Sherwood Design Engineers to provide underground stormwater detention while accommodating the constraints of this urban redevelopment project. The civil design incorporated multiple subsurface detention areas alongside bioretention and other site drainage improvements.

A total of 1,016 Rainstore3 units were installed, providing more than 3,696 cubic feet (27,648 gallons) of stormwater storage. The system utilized varying stack heights throughout the site, highlighting one of Rainstore3’s key advantages—the flexibility to customize storage depth around available space, site elevations, utilities, and other project constraints.

Rainstore3’s modular design helped maximize underground storage capacity while integrating seamlessly with the surrounding site improvements. Installation was completed by KNR Construction, who worked closely with Invisible Structures throughout the project.
